Sellers Roofing Company is a Minneapolis-based, family-operated roofing contractor built on one idea: tell homeowners the truth about their roof, then back it up with work that lasts a Minnesota winter. We are Black-owned, BBB Accredited, GAF and Owens Corning certified, and licensed as a State of Minnesota Master Roofing Contractor. We do not chase storms. We do not knock on doors after a hail event. We answer the phone, show up when we say we will, and put it all in writing.
Who We Are
We started Sellers Roofing because the homeowners we knew kept getting the same story from out-of-state contractors: high-pressure quotes, missing permits, vague warranties, and crews that disappeared the moment something leaked. Minnesota deserves better. We live here, we raised our kids here, and we put our name on every roof we touch. That is not marketing — that is the standard our family is held to every time we drive past a house we worked on.
The company is run day-to-day by the Sellers family alongside a small bench of trusted project managers, certified installers, and a single dedicated office lead. We are intentionally not the biggest roofer in the metro. We turn down jobs we cannot do well, and we refer the ones we shouldn’t take to people we trust. The goal has never been volume; it is reputation — the kind that gets your neighbor to call us by name.
Credentials, Spelled Out
- State of Minnesota Master Roofing Contractor — licensed by MN DLI. Our license number is filed on every permit we pull.
- BBB Accredited — we maintain an A rating and respond to every review, every time.
- GAF Certified — trained on GAF system installation, which is how we offer manufacturer-backed system warranties on asphalt shingle roofs.
- Owens Corning Certified — trained on Owens Corning Total Protection Roofing System and Platinum Preferred installation methods.
- Fully insured — general liability and worker’s compensation. We carry both, and we will email you a current certificate before we set foot on your property.
- Black-Owned Business — we list this proudly because representation in the trades matters, and because our customers — of every background — deserve to know who they are hiring.
- Contractor, not public adjuster — we install and repair roofs. We will help you understand your insurance scope, meet your adjuster on the roof, and document damage thoroughly, but we are not licensed to negotiate your claim, and we will tell you exactly that.
Our Process — What Working With Us Actually Looks Like
- Free Roof Inspection. A real inspector — not a salesperson — walks your roof, photographs every slope, checks attic ventilation, and pulls measurements. You get the photos. If there is no real damage, we will tell you so and put it in writing.
- Written Estimate. Line items, materials by name and SKU, ventilation plan, flashing details, ice & water shield coverage, underlayment grade, ridge cap product, and a clear total. No verbal numbers. No “we’ll figure it out.”
- Permit & Schedule. We pull the permit. We schedule install around weather, your work, and HOA windows. You get a project manager’s direct cell number.
- Install. Tear-off to deck. Replace any rotten sheathing at a written unit rate (no surprise charges). Ice & water at eaves, valleys, and penetrations per Minnesota code. Synthetic underlayment. Starter strip. Manufacturer-spec nails. Manufacturer-spec ventilation. Cleanup with magnetic sweep, twice.
- Final Walk & Documentation. Photos of every penetration, ridge, valley, and flashing detail. Warranty paperwork — both manufacturer system warranty and our written labor warranty — emailed to you the same day.
Where We Work
We serve the Minneapolis metro from our base in Brooklyn Park. Our core cities are Brooklyn Park, Bloomington, Edina, Brooklyn Center, Golden Valley, Columbia Heights, Robbinsdale, and St. Louis Park. We also take work in surrounding suburbs — Plymouth, Maple Grove, Crystal, New Hope, Roseville, Minneapolis proper, Richfield, and Eden Prairie — when the project fits our crew schedule. See the Service Areas page for the full picture.
What We Install and Repair
Residential roof replacement in architectural asphalt shingles is the bulk of what we do, but we also handle targeted roof repairs, post-storm and pre-sale inspections, hail and storm damage work with insurance documentation, commercial flat-roof systems (TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen), and gutter and downspout replacement. If your project is outside our wheelhouse, we will say so out loud and point you toward a contractor who specializes in it.
How We Talk About Insurance
If you think you have storm or hail damage, here is the truth about our role: we are the contractor. We inspect, we document, we install. We are happy to meet your adjuster on the roof and walk them through what we see, and we will give you photos and a written scope that your insurance carrier can work from. We are not, however, public adjusters. We will not negotiate your claim. We will not promise to “get the claim approved.” Anyone who promises that is either misinformed or breaking the law. Our job is to do the work right; your insurance company’s job is to settle the claim fairly. We will help you communicate, not manipulate.
Warranties — Both of Them
Every replacement we do comes with two layers of coverage. The first is the manufacturer system warranty from GAF or Owens Corning, which covers the shingles and the system components for the period specified by the manufacturer (typically 25 to 50 years depending on system tier). The second is our written labor warranty, which covers the workmanship of the install — nail placement, flashing, valleys, penetrations, ventilation — for a multi-year period that is spelled out on the estimate before you sign. If something we installed leaks because of how we installed it, we come back and fix it.
